VHF - UHF ATEX
Using a transceiver in certain environments can pose serious problems : a tiny spark produced when turning on the device can, for example, detonate flamible gases. This can be avoided by using an ATEX
( ATmosphere EXplosive) version of the transceiver and its corresponding ATEX compliant accessories.
The ATEX standard takes care of these issues and is classified for differing levels of application.

Different manufacturers offer ATEX products either for the professional range (PMR) or for license-free “446 UHF equipment. Often existing popular models have also been adapted to comply with the ATEX standard. Here below are the most well known products. v1 26/7/12
